JOHN TEDESCHINI

John Tedeschini combines a wealth of real-world interviewing experience with a commitment to delivering training that is grounded in psychological science. John’s 25-year police career with the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) saw him conduct thousands of interviews in a frontline capacity as a patrol officer and as a detective in Major Crimes Section. His investigative assignments included Homicide Section, Polygraph Unit, Internal Affairs, and the Interview Support Team, a specialized unit responsible for conducting, overseeing, and consulting on complex major crime interviews. During his police career, John also developed and delivered groundbreaking investigative interviewing training programs for the EPS and other municipal police services in the province of Alberta.

A recognized expert in the field of investigative interviewing, John has authored, and co-authored articles published in the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition, and Investigative Interviewing: Research and Practice. His work has been cited in academic journals and texts, and he has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences hosted by judges, lawyers, and academic institutions. John teaches investigative interviewing to students in the Police and Investigations program at MacEwan University in Edmonton and is a member of the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (iIIRG).
