Participants will learn memory-enhancing techniques to improve the quantity and quality of details obtained from cooperative interviewees. Practical and non-coercive interviewing strategies will be presented for use with reluctant or resistant subjects. The workshop will also explore the benefits of incorporating additional interviewing methodologies, such as Motivational Interviewing, and introduce evidence-based credibility assessment techniques.

Interview to Distinguish Truth from Deception

Strategic interviewing methods have emerged as valuable tools for investigators in recent years. This workshop focuses on science-based interviewing techniques designed to enhance an investigator's ability to elicit information and distinguish truth from deception. It is best suited for professionals who conduct investigative interviews in challenging and high-stakes contexts, such as respondent interviews and interviews with criminal suspects. While prior evidence-based foundational training, such as the Investigative Interviewing Techniques and/or Advanced Interviewing Techniques workshops, is recommended, it is not required. Individuals interested in these topics are welcome to register.
